About GST Quarterly Return

GST Quarterly Returns, also known as GSTR-3B, are a crucial part of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime. These returns summarize a taxpayer’s GST transactions for a quarter, providing a comprehensive overview of their tax liability.

Applications

GST Quarterly Returns are mandatory for all registered taxpayers, except those who have opted for the composition scheme. This includes taxpayers who have opted for the Quarterly Return Filing and Monthly Payment (QRMP) scheme.

Eligibility for Quarterly Filing

To be eligible for quarterly filing, taxpayers must meet the following criteria:

  • Their aggregate turnover should not exceed Rs. 1.5 crore in the preceding financial year.
  • They should not supply goods that are prohibited or restricted for QRMP taxpayers.
  • They should not make inter-state supplies of goods.

Essential Documents for Filing

The following documents are necessary for filing GST Quarterly Returns:

  • GSTIN (Goods and Services Tax Identification Number)
  • PAN (Permanent Account Number)
  • Details of outward supplies made during the quarter
  • Details of inward supplies from registered dealers
  • Details of imports of goods and services attracting reverse charge
  • Details of tax paid under the QRMP scheme

The due date for filing GST Quarterly Returns is the 22nd or 24th of the month following the relevant quarter, depending on the state or union territory where the taxpayer’s principal place of business is registered.
